My home town of Quilcene is only 2 miles from the Olympic National Forest and it is no surprise that I have a love for hiking, camping, and most recently mountain biking. I am a member of the Mountaineers, an organization for people who share the same love for the outdoors. Check out their website at www.kitsapmountaineers.org

I also enjoy gardening;growing up my parents grew large vegetable gardens during the summer months and my mom canned much of the vegetables we ate. As an adult I still enjoy this past time and grow vegetable and flower gardens of my own.

My most recent interest is learning to keep bees. My father has two hives on the farm and I've been assisting him with their maintenance. Bees are very important to our environment and their population has drastically dwindled over the past decade mostly due to what is called Colony Collapse Disorder, this disorder is believed to be caused from pesticide use. Check out this website for information about bee keeping in Washington State http://wasba.org/
